Pochi Tamba
YAAS was initiated in 2006 by Pochi Tamba of Cameroon and Thomas of Liberia, two young activists. The ideas behing its creation aare as follows:
· The creation of a central nervous system where yound African can activists can share information and know more about the activities of one another.
· Furthermoree, YAAS provide a forum for the sharing of resources (Human and Financial) that should strengthen and consolidate the activities of young African activists.
· YAAS will also be a forum of mutual support were members discuss their projects and ideas with other youths of the continent and mutually morally support one another.
The Premise for the cretion of YAAS is the fact that, many young Africans who wish to contribute to positive change on the continent, often find themselves isolated. Across the continent, tenagers and young adults struggle , often alone to make a change. The initiators of YAAS thought, this could be a forum to share and mutually lean on one another.
THEME OF FIRST SUMMIT:
This first summit is aimed at settleing the idea of YAAS among fellow young African activists and a putting together the functioning parameters of the project. The Initiator, Pochi and Tholas have chosen to focus on the partership for sustainable development as the first theme. In this light,
There shall be three papers to analyse the theme and propose solutions to problems faced by African Young Activists in this area.
sin
§ 1. Defficulties faced by Young African Activists in Development
The paper shall first define who an African activists is and also point out and analyse the problems faced by Young African Activists and their probable causes. It is also expected that this paper will bring out some of the consequences of these problems on development on the continent.
§ 2. What partnership and for what objective
This paper shall bring out the different possibilities of partnerships that African activists can get involved in and the advantages. It shall also bring out resources for partnerships.
§ 3. Partnership resources opened to Young African Activists
This paper zill explore the different partnership options opened to African young activists and how this should benefit them.
Budget
The budget of the event is currently being outlined. But a full budget may not be posible till about November 2006 after we have contacted and done the neccessary bookings. It is estimated that aside travel fare, each particpnt should use about 60USD per day for three days of the conference or food and lodging.
There are ideas for some tourisms as Cameroon is very rich in that aspect. Any interested participant is hereby requested to signal this to the organisers well ahead of time so that special arrangements could be made.
Management Structure of the programme
§ YAAS is a new concept and we havce set up a rudientry team with Pochi in Cameroon and Thomas in Liberia. We hope to refine thise as time goes on and enlarge it to include many more essential young African minds.
Communications
The Communictions Officer for this summit is Thomas Mitchell of Liberia . Feel free to email or give him a call for any conference worries.
Outreach Plans
Once Pochi and Thomas have completed your market analysis it will be easier to complete the outreach plans.
