Description:
WSIS Sri lankan youth group is a strictly non political and the local body in Sri Lanka having links with other WSIS youth groups world wide.
Aims of WSIS-LK
1. To give a leading role to youth in the ICT policy making in Sri lanka
2. To get other organisations who are having the similar interests under one point and to share the WSIS leadership among them
3.To work with International bodies and work together with them in finding PRACTICAL answers for the unemployment relating to ICT skills.
4.To educate youth in dealing with present youth problems like Unemployment, mental stress,smoking,alcohol, drugs and sexual harassment and to widen their knowledge of values of Life, Love and Unity through ICT and related projects.
5. Getting youth , youth leaders and existing youth organization to work together with the WSIS-Sri lankan youth team and sharing its leadership among the existing youth organisations and leaders
in ICT projects.
6. To create a platform for youth to get experience in ICT , taking the ICT into villages and giving them the chance to explore the ICT.
7. To provide an example for other youth groups globally of how to start an active action orientated youth group.
8 Highlighting issues related to I.C.T with day to day media, getting support from the daily and weekly newspapers, tv stations and radio stations as well.
9.To equip youth with ICT.
Objectives:
Action plan of WSIS-SRI LANKA
OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE SRI LANKAN YOUTH IN ICT WITH WSIS!
Step 1:-
ACTION PLANS:-
1. Conducting fruitful workshops in both city and rural areas and boost the youth participation in ICT.
2.Creating an action plan dealing with the issues related to ICT.
3.Dealing unemployment using ICT. Working together with I.L.O and Y.E.N .
4.Organising events such as poster campaigns and essay campaigns.
5. Developing a country page for WSIS Youth in Sri lanka
6.To do a series of programmes with YA TV to be televised all around Sri lanka relating to Youth with ICT.
We will be using the TIG resources like forums to discuss about the issues related to ICT and to boost up the youth participation in decision making
in Sri lanka.
We welcome any ideas of our Elders who are already active in WSIS Sri lanka as well, as age is no barrier to take part in Mission WSIS Youth!
