Description:
ABC Water Project is an initiative aimed at embarking on educating the rural areas’ dwellers on water and water related diseases, this will be done by organizing Radio program which will be on local languages as well as providing Areas' map of the affected communities in Nigeria, and to collaborate with other communities and communities based organization in raising fund for the water projects, and in creating awareness on water and water related diseases.
Methodology:
To execute this project, ABC method shall be adopted.
A” Area Maps of the areas in need of portable water and areas being affected by water related diseases. This shall also be used for research purposes.
B”Broadcasting services: this shall be done through a radio program, this shall be provide avenue for us to educating many people through radio in local languages. Besides, members of the affected communities shall be invited as well as local government authority in care of such community. They shall be discussing way out of their problems as related to water.
C” Collaborating Services, this shall be done in collaboration with other communities ‘based organization in organizing conferences, workshops, rallies, etc to educate, creating awareness, etc in the rural areas.
Expected Outcome:
Reduction in the water related diseases and inauguration of Community water volunteers ‘teachers
Time Frame: The phase one of the projects is expected to cover Southwestern part of Nigeria, which is expected to last for two years (May 2006-May 2007)
Background:
Rural areas dwellers in Nigeria are now newly victims of Water related diseases. This occurs due to their inability to have access to safe drinking water, lack of adequate information on water related diseases and failure of the government to provide portable water.
Water is life; unfortunately, it has turned to a weapon of mass destruction in the most rural areas’ in Nigeria, when one compare numbers of people who are dying of the water related diseases.
Objectives:
To embark on rural areas’ awareness campaign on Water and water related diseases by using Radio and other Media
To draw attention of the government and corporate organizations to the areas in dire need of portable water.
To collaborate with communities and communities based organization in organizing water related projects.
To provide Area maps' of the areas in dire need of portable water.
