Description:
The Secondary Schools United Nations Symposium (SSUNS) is Canada's premier model UN conference for high school and CEGEP students. The event is sponsored by the International Relations Student Association of McGill University (IRSAM) and is organized by select members who form the SSUNS secretariat.
The conference takes place each November at the Delta Centre-Ville in Montreal, Quebec. SSUNS invites approximately 1000 delegates from around the world each year to participate. This number of delegates enables SSUNS to offer a variety of committee options while at the same time maintaining a friendly and multicultural atmosphere which is conducive to participation and interaction.
Objectives:
The objective of each SSUNS conference is to educate young people about current international issues through interactive debate in simulated United Nations committees. SSUNS also strives to develop delegates' public speaking and negotiation skills while at the same time providing them with an opportunity to meet new people from around the world who share their interests.
