Why human beings made music 600,000 years ago? What encouraged us to keep this skill over evolution?

what made them make music?! well ... they just needed. they believed that there is a force beyond them, and they are the ones who are obligated to produce it to them ... and they felt something while they play it. see, we can not live wothout music ... can we?!

Do you have any real data to back that up? Are there any researched theories on this? I mean, from what I have read, nobody knows - all of a sudden, there was just a "burst" in culture, with music and art (beads, pottery).... I wonder why this is. Why do we have a need to create? Is it what makes us human?

well, it wasn't a sudden burst. all things developed in steps ... it started with an idea and they developed it, like nowadays. well, i have sth 2 back it up ... they found a whistle in Divje Babe, that's a cave in my country, and this whistle approx. dates from 45.000 B.C. it means, that they were producing music ... and then the other thing are aborigines and other cultures, which still live like their ancestors did. well, that's a start ...
i think we need to create because we feel too. if u don't create u feel empty, at least i do. if i don't create i'm not full, i'm not myself, and i think that those first ppl were feeling sth like that too. what do u think?!
