music binds ppl
April 18, 2005 @ 11:49 AM

yea...i agree that music is the universal language that binds ppl together even when you dunno what they are singing... from my part of the world .. well i am from singapore.... (part of asia) choral music is really catching up in our side and there are a lot of competition for choirs ongoing... schools in singapore for example are making choir a compulsory curriculum which means all the schools in singapore must have choir...

isn't it great?!

i am involved
April 19, 2005 @ 01:28 AM

Guess i can start by saying that i have been singing in the choir since i was 13 years old.. so its been 10 years for me now. I am also heading a choral group in the community since 1998 and we are currently preparing for our debut concert this december.

I aspire to be a choral conductor in 2 years time because i want to spread my passion for music and singing to students and i think through singing, people can relate to the song, what its about, the feel and emotions are involved too. So thats how i hope to help people from my area learn more about music.

Currently, i am exploring and researching more about Asian music such as chinese, japanese and even filipino music because the chords and texture of these moving music is totally different and ethnic when compared to the western worlds.

and as i heard drbadr- i hope i didn't misspronounced it, said, that she will soon contribute sth to us. hard to wait. we are all waiting for everybody to tell sth.

Music is great - it's addictive and something I rely on for sanity and peace. It's a universal language and saviour. It's a powerful gift.

it really is. it's sth u can't just tell with words, if u really feel it u usually stay wordless.

i wondering how many of u can read notes?!
and what do u guys think when u listen to music?! have u noticed that music is really good u can work indisturbed, but if it is disturbing, if u don't like it u can't concentrate no matter what ... ?!

and did u know that it is scientifically proved, that when they played Mozart's music crystals displayed roses on the wall, but when they played matal music, crystals made unproper forms ... ?! what can music do to things ...
oh, and cows, which listened to classical music produced more milk that those ones without music ... well, thise are just some facts ... if u know any u can tell them here ... or u can made a word text ... smile
best wishes to all ...smile

Wow, I wonder why that is. It must be something to with the wavelength/frequency changing the orientation of the crystal's atoms. Although I'm skeptical about it showing a "rose". :P

Yeah, I saw that documentary a few years ago. Not only were the flowers drawn to the speakers that played Mozart's music, but the flowers in the other sound booth that were listening to the heavy metal turned away from the speakers and died after a day or two while the flowers that were listening to Mozart's music survived for about a week and a half or more.

I haven't heard about the cows producing milk ... haha ... that's kind of funny, though. Do you remember where you saw that?

IPaS,
Ali

well, my grandpa has a farm (it sounds a little bit funny, i know), and when he plays classical music they produce more milk than they do if he plays other music, except for our native music (with accordians) ...

LOL ... reminds me of my music history teacher. Do not read any further if you do not want to be grossed out!

My music history teacher is a very old man. He speaks very slowly and softly and likes to yell out bold remarks from time to time. He said that instead of ... you know ... fondling with himself ... he would listen to Monteverdi's 'L'Orfeo' because the piece was so sensual ...

Bwahaha! Okay, sorry if that creeped you guys out.
