Description:
Organisational background of Minsaki Katende Foundation (minkat):

Minkat is a registered Charity (NGO),No. S.5914/4718, under the Non Governmental Organisations Statute 1989, laws of Uganda,registered on 5th December 2003. Its committed to charitable work of promoting HIV/AIDS control activities, promoting persons with disabilities (PWDs) and orphans, as well as promoting education.
It was founded by Katamba David and Ms.Ruth Nabatanzi.

The NGO (Charity) is implemented under supervision and collaboration with the Government of Uganda (G.O.U): Ministry of Gender, Labour & Social Development, Ministry of Education & Sports and Ministry of Health.

The outcomes of this charity directly benefit Persons Living with HIV/AIDs, Persons and communities affected by HIV/AIDS, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and orphans, all these beneficiaries being children and youths. In the long run, the charity will benefit the Ugandan community members in the Ugandan districts of Kampala and Luweero.

Minsaki Katende Foundation (minkat) recognises the value of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a rapidly growing program adopted by most companies and organisations as well as individuals, to help communities and disadvantaged persons benefit from the concern of the said entities in a form most appropriate, leading to rapid development of economies of where these entities have jurisdictions


Basics For HIV/AIDS Control Project (BaHiCo):

This is the first priority project that has been given attention by the Minkat foundation. It promotes HIV/AIDS control activities and enabling the future of Persons Living with HIV/AIDS and those affected by HIV/AIDS, using the Youths as spear heads.

Its major objectives are all in line with the Uganda AIDS Commision (a Uganda country overall HIV/AIDS control initiative), as well as other HIV/AIDS control organisations working in Uganda, and they are:


(Overall Objectives)

1. To promote youth HIV/AIDs control activities and help persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) especially Youths(mainly girls/ladies) and Children(Orphans);

2. To reduce further spread of HIV/AIDS infection;

3. To strengthen capacity of youths and women to respond to HIV/AIDS epidemic;

4. To mitgate the socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS at individual level, household and community levels.

(Specific Objectives)

5. To enable young peope attain skills ao that they can lead and manage the fight against HIV/AIDS.

6.To help HIV/AIDS Orphans access basic care for their survival.



BaHiCo' major activities:

1. We organise seminars and consultative meetings that are aimed at moblising and informing people about the control measures of HIV/AIDS, as well as forming a comprehensive participatory methodology towards the combatment of this epidemic.

2. We visit schools in Luweero and kampala District, both Primary and Secondary, spraeding the gospel of HIV/AIDS control to pupils and students as well.

3. Give free HIV/AIDS information to people that need it like students of Universities,community leaders,Youth leaders,Peer Counselors.

4. Compile HIV/AIDS resources on our website,like answered Questions by different organisations around the world,links to other related organisations so as to promote sharing of HIV/AIDS control information, for quick assess by those that need it.

5. Providing Orphange mother care to children below the age of twelve(12),who have lost parents due HIV/AIDS, while enabling them stay in their homes and societies.

6. Involving Women in strategic areas of HIV/AIDS control like Orphanage care,decision making related to the HIV/AIDS issues,and offering Gender main streaming ideas to strenghten ladies participaton the the HIV/AIDS control struggle.(Men are not excluded only that emphasis is on ladies/girls since they are more vulnerable)

7. Visiting prisons to assess and promote their response and compliance to the HIV/AIDS Epidemic control issues.

8. Visiting hospitals to re-assure persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA) of their continious role in the society.

9. Capacity Building of HIV/AIDS youth(but not limited to) activists.

10. HIV/AIDS Advocay.

11.Dissemination and Senstisation.

Objectives:
To be an effective,sustainable and reliable charitable HIV/AIDS control project, in Partnership with government, local and international NGOs and other stakeholders, so as to save and empower HIV/AIDs Youths control activities and victims, disabled person (PWOs) and orphans as well as promoting education through a well coordinated delivery of friendlier charitable services and gender sensitive programmes to fight stigma, illiteracy; and creation of a unified voice of PWDs in order to advocate for equalization of opportunities of disability programmes; all aimed at a sustainable mechanism to enhance the participation of vulnerable/needy people in HIV/AIDS control and prevention programmes through volunteerism services of Counselling, Dissemination and Sensitisation.

Needs:
Funding,stakeholders,Personel to help in its implementation,Volunteers,Youths interns,cooperaton with other organisations especially International funding agencies for HIV/AIDS Control activites and HIV/AIDS activists,support in kind like supply of condoms,HIV/AIDS control information charts and Supply of Nutritional foods for Children,physical items that shall be used to outreach programmes like bicycles,computers,stationary,motorcycles,HIV/AIDS control bulletins,charts,information,etc.
