Description:
This Website discusses the devastating loss of species that is presently occurring, leading to the endangerment of an ever-growing number of organisms. Interviews with experts, perspectives from over 800 children in 31 countries, exquisite live-action videos, story-like narrative plays, cartoons, caricatures, games, and more provide students with a first-hand look at the causes and the extent of the problem of endangered animals as well as the possible solutions. Designed along the lines of a colorful and creative online magazine, our website is both visually pleasing and contextually rich besides being globally inclusive.
Background:
The earth’s human population is rapidly expanding and this is imposing tremendous pressures on many of the planet’s other species. These pressures include habitat destruction, introduction of exotic species, poaching, over-hunting, pollution, and many more. This is causing animals to become extinct at rates faster than normal thus threatening the ecological balance of the earth. Biodiversity is extremely important and we need to preserve a healthy and biologically diverse planet.
Objectives:
This website is designed along the lines of a colorful online magazine with the objective of increasing the awareness of the alarming and rising problem of endangered animals around the world and how many a time we consciously and sometimes unconsciously contribute to this problem. The website is intended to educate people on the causes but more importantly the possible actions that citizens like you and I can take, to stem this growing problem and conserve endangered species before they become extinct. Since we recognize this as a global problem, we have given this website a global flavor by showcasing perspectives from children around the world in the form of debates, poems, drawings, news reports, stories, and opinions about various topics related to endangered animals and extinction. In conclusion, with this website, it is our objective, to first, attract the intended audience to the site through our creative and colorful presentation and then give them an education on the subject of endangered animals through our rich and diverse content that will enable them to contribute to the protection and conservation of these helpless animals.
