Description:
This project was started through a youth grant from the Do Something Foundation. We put together canvas bags filled with books, games, and other learning materials on a certain theme. By having a mixture of different ways to learn and get elementary and middle school students interested in reading.
These kits will be available in the Boys' and Girls' Club homework room. Another idea is to have the kids take them out for a week as they would a book in the library.
Objectives:
- To interest elementary and middle school students in reading, especially in English
- To provide easy access to multiple ways of learning a single topic
- To expand this beyond Lawrence
Needs:
Books, games (in kind or money to buy them)
Blank canvas bags and paint/art supplies to decorate them.
