La mela di Newton (Newton's apple) is an award-winning web site with scientific interests that has been independently conceived and developed. Online since the year 2000, it is a non-profit site and is carried on without any outside funding or support. The website, organized in different sections with the underlying theme of science, technology and multimedia, aims to introduce current events, popular issues, information, and education topics with powerful Community and communication instruments.
With the Video On Demand Framework (based on the MPEG-4 standard and on QuickTime Streaming Server for super scalable delivery), users can watch exclusive educational and scientific videos, like interviews and conferences. Using the same Framework, users will be able to watch live events and real-time reports from La mela di Newton.
In addition, the Community forum proposes itself as an interactive area for exchanging ideas on science and technology trough integrated tools. The forum hosts interesting discussions on physics, astrophysics and other sciences with areas also for didactics and technology.
