Description:
Youths as a Social Thinker (YAST) is an online forum for debate on buring social issues such as social injustice, underdevelopment, poverty , and so on. Many diametrically opposed explanations of poverty have been set forth by many social thinkers of different ideological persuasions. Those youths whose usual main intellectual obsession is the question of how to address these social problem st have "analyzed, and therefore critical" understanding of these explanations. There can be no doubt that discussion will help such youths acquire such an understanding of these explanations. With this in mind, the YAST aims at making such youths discuss the various explanations of social problems set forth to date
Making youths around the world discuss is not its ultimate goal. Its ultimate goal is to make them go beyond debate, and to induce them to translate their "analyzed and therefore critical" understanding of social problems - which they gain partly from discussion - into action.
It emphasizes that the link between any claim they make about arguments set forth surounding these problems and the corroborative evidence they set forth to substantiate it must be logical, not emotional. It encourages them to be as logical and dispassionate as possible when examining any ideas regarding these problems.
