Iracambi
This is one of our volunteers working in the lab. The main purpose of the lab is for Medicinal Plant research, testing and making of tinctures. It is also used by researchers and is in the same block as the classroom used by the Environmental Education programme.

Iracambi
We have mapped most of Iracambi's land, and this information has been added on to the GIS system. We are looking to start mapping the area around Iracambi now, and add this information to the GIS system.
A Swiss phytochemist has just left us, she was working on the Medicinal Plants project. She has left a guide to test the Medicinal Plants we are interested in and find out the active compounds contained in them. If you have such skills we would very much love to hear from you. We will be starting the sustainable harvesting project of Medicinal Plants in the next couple of weeks.
Also taking place in the next couple of weeks we will start the tree planting - the trees to be planted have been grown by volunteers in our nursery.
Trails maintenance is on ongoing process and we are starting to put in marker posts on the trails - so that all roads should lead back to civilization!
We are working on a curriculum for the environmental education programme so that in future all materials can be fitted in to this structure, and those with Portuguese language skills have something to work with.
We are also trying to increase our contacts with American Universities, to get more students and researchers here.
