Description:
This is a community initiative to address and uplift the plight of children esp.those from poor house-holds . This was after a thorough needs assessment whereby 90% of the people in the poor urban areas of Kampala city were of poor sociol status.Adolescents from these areas,esp. orphans face un due pressure to angage in harmful and unlawful activities.The project covers tuition fees, practical/field work fees,course/vocational fees,scholarstic materials ,uniform fee and to a limited extent ;offer meal. Eligibility:
-only pupils/students enrolled in schools.
-self sponsored students/pupils.
-school drop outs
-single parent households.
-orphans.
The following cannot attract assistance from the project:
-community rejects and convicts.
- those from capable families.
- those with other sponsorship.
Background:
this project is being implemented by a CBO called Activists for Global Environment and Development Association(AGENDA).Itfalls directly under under main stream project called the Community Adolescents Care (CAC).
Objectives:
The main objective of ths project is to asssis the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children access meaningful education and guidance essential for their all round development.
Budget:
Apparently there are 106 students enrolled under this scholarship scheme,where 100 of the students pay half of the school fees and 6 of whom are on full scholarship:
Tution fee------12,900,000/=
Scholarstic materials=7,500,000/=annually.
Food=10,000,000/=annually. Beddings/clothing=10,000,000/= annually.
Office maintenance=5,000.0000/=yearly
Adminstration....30,000,000/=
TOTAL.......75,400,000/=
Needs:
There are many needy children in the community who need care and attention.so the project needs are:
-Funding. This is inform of money for tuion .and other scolarstic materials,medical care for the sick and vulnerable,food supplements ,clothing and recreational.
Funding is also requied at the project level in order to sustsain the programme.For intance payment for the support staff ,transport, salary and allowances.
Funding also is required for office maintenace,eg. chairs,tables,electricity ,telephone,water insurence among others.
