Description:
Brainstorming is an electronic and multimedia publication where young people can participate by freely expressing ideas and analyzing the issues concerning their countries. Young journalists and civil society’s representatives from different countries have the opportunity to express their opinions, and to analyze the main social problems that are affecting their countries and lives.
Brainstorming is using multimedia materials to spread knowledge about the situation concerning social issues in different countries encouraging young people to participate actively in generating changes in international level and in the creation of communicative links between communities.
Brainstorming is encouraging creativity, constructive opinion, citizenship, democratic values and freedom of speech. All these values, skills and freedoms are extremely important to the personal development of all individuals.

Mission
Brainstorming aims to spread knowledge about the situation concerning youth social issues in different countries encouraging young people to participate actively in generating changes at the international level and in the creation of communicative bridges between communities.

Vision
Media and Civil society representatives play an important role on the spreading of knowledge on social issues. Brainstorming believes that Media and Civil Society Representatives aims should be focused on searching of solutions and spreading of information that could help to confront the challenges of a changing reality.

Background:
The beginning of this project started in 2000 Segovia, Spain with a local magazine created by a group of journalism students that brought analysis and opinions on international issues to local community. The leader of this group, Talia DELGADO CULEBRAS, took part in a youth exchange in 2002 Romania developed under the YOUTH Program of the European Commission. During the different debates among young people from Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland and Romania, they discovered common points of view and also common experiences and youth problems within their respective countries.
Based on the conclusions obtained during the interchange and on the experience of this group of Spanish journalist Talia Delgado Culebras decided during her European Voluntary Service (EVS) project within ARSIS – The Youth Cultural Association from Romania . to create a publication, in which the young people can share, explain and analyze the main problems and difficulties that they found in common in their respective countries.
The publication is fomenting a better and clearer knowledge about other countries giving young journalists the opportunity to express themselves using this communication tools.


Objectives:
• To create an intercultural environment, where young people can express freely their thoughts about various aspects affecting their lives in their own countries.
• To develop an international network of young journalist’s interested in social issues and investigative journalism.
• To stimulate knowledge about current social and development issues on different countries.
• To explore active forms of communication among countries.
• To develop links between young people with similar points of view and interests.
• To create new partnerships with civil society’s representatives and similar publications in order to cooperate and enlarge the network.

We are looking for enthusiastic young journalists and young activists from all over the world interested in giving a social context to different international youth issues.

We are looking for articles, reports, photo reports, interviews about:

Human Rights
• Abuse, Disrespect, Cases or situations violations of HH.RR for Human Rights.

Politics
Corruption Cases, examples of Specific programs or measures that benefit society, International analysis of political situation in relation to the origin country.

Environmental medium
• Abuses such as contamination and illegal selling of protected species or land, Overexploitation of natural resources, Intervention plans that address specific environmental problems/situations, or original initiatives can be an example to other countries.

Media and Communication
The social role of the media in helping to develop society and the community, Freedom of expression and journalists’ rights, Original activities or plans started by media in order to make an intervention in specific social issues.

Women Rights
Roles and participation in the social life, Violence against women / exploitation and trafficking
Associations and initiatives

Children Rights
Violence / abuse / exploitation and trafficking, Street children

Youth
Main problems in each country, Initiatives, youth initiatives solving youth social problems

General Guidelines
If you have already a story to tell about any of these subjects just contact our team. If you just have few ideas and do not know how to develop them we can help you out. Our team will help you to develop your concept idea.

The main objective of this publication is to present a global view and knowledge about the social and political reality of youth issues of the countries in the present context and to serve as a forum to share and exchange information and ideas. Sometimes the experiences of others are useful to know if you want to better understand your own country and its realities.

Ours is an international publication to diffuse and exchange ideas, which is open to people in different countries. For this reason each article should also include a short description/background of the situation, to give readers a general idea about the facts the article is talking about.

Submission Guidelines
The articles have to include a title reflecting the issue that the author is focusing on, as well as captions for the photos, if applicable. The author should also attach a short cv ( no bigger than half a page) and at least two photos to illustrate the article.

Articles, Interviews and Reports Length
2 - 5 pages at least. Times New Roman font (12points)

Photos
Black and White and colour are accepted; you can send large photographs in JPG or TIFF format (at least 350 x 250 px).

5-10 photos

Brainstorming is a non for profit publication so authors are contributing voluntarily to the contents of the magazine.
