Description:
The idea was to develop a platform for democratic practice, develop an indigenous criteria for human rights, compare the human rights situation between countries, use best practice examples to give a voice to people at grassroots levels and address social inequalities and domination. The site also looks at attempts by global forces (governments, TNC, international organisations) through surveillance, and covert mechanisms, to monitor and control other nations and communities.
The initiative was started through the workshop titled
Objectives:
The main goal and objectives of the initiative is to promote human rights reforms both within Bangladesh and across geographical and political boundaries, and support women, children, and marginalized communities in resisting social oppression.
Bangladesh Human Rights Network (BHRN) is an independent platform for media professionals and activists who believe in a society, which is respectful of the rights of all its members. The platform endeavours are to form indigenous criteria for human rights practices, taking into account the realities of majority world countries, with the best and proper use of Internet beyond the press censorship. It also use the digital opportunity to make responsible citizen who will be courageous to ask question about their rights and reality. It will champion principles of democracy, give voice to people at grassroots levels and address social inequalities and domination at national and international levels.
