What's after the AIMUN ?
August 14, 2005 @ 08:29 AM

slamo 3likom..
This summer was the best i've ever had.. i travelled to Tunisia, then participated in the AIMUN and in between i paticiapted in a football league ( but we were elimanated from the 1st round ) ... anyway i really benefited so much this summer, gained alot of skills and even i began to think in a differnet way and to look at things from another scope! we all were sad after at the end of the AIMUN. But i'm asking what's next ? what r we supposed to do after this step ?.. after that effort we spent in the conference ? r we supposed to stop at this step and just "dream" about changing or "hope" that one day things will be changed ?
i dunno if anyone is thinking in this way, but it's not me ! we - the AIMUNers - r still all in contact and have outings together and thats really a very good thing that we r having coz many events and trips just end and every member in it go in his way and just have some "memories" about it.. but thats not happening with us, we r still in contact and even meeting! so y dont we use this thing and benefit from it in hving a real project or an iniative that we start by ourselves and try to make a real change ?
i'm not suggesting a certain project.. i'm suggesting an idea .. that we continue and not to found an assossiation or anything like that .. i'm talking about a practical thing like if have a project of "plant a tree in ur city" or something like that and we have the SDA to cooperate if needed ! ..if there is any practical project i agree to participate !
so anyone who agrees with me or have any ideas?.. let us know !

i am really so enthusiastic about Ahmed's initiative. i have one simple suggestion that is similar to urs Ahmed, and in fact it is not my idea but an idea that was suggested in صناع الحياة. it was really simple and it was to plant anything in the balcony or in the roof. this would help reduce air pollution, enhance attachment to nature and all that is beautiful. and if we plant fruits, it can make our homes self-sufficient: there will be no more need to buy them,if u already have them. if we want to know more practicle details about this project, i know of an N.G.O that distributes c.d. and gives lessons about this particular project. if u r as enthusiastic as me, guys, we can do that together. i'm also for meeting together to set a plan for our projects so see u soon.

I will post another reply to you, but in the meantime, read the below poem- not off-point:
Believe in your heart that
something wonderful is about to happen.
Love your life.
Believe in your own powers,
and your own potential,
and in your own innate goodness.
Wake every morning
with the awe of just being alive.
Discover each day the magnificent,
awesome beauty in the world.
Explore and embrace life in yourself
and in everyone you see each day.
Reach within to find your own specialness.
Amaze yourself and rouse those around you
to the potential of each new day.
Don't be afraid to admit
that you are less than perfect;
this is the essence of your humanity.
Let those who love you help you.
Trust enough to be able to take.
Look with hope to the horizon of today,
for today is all we truly have.
Live this day well.
Let a little sun out as well as in.
Create your own rainbows.
Be open to all your possibilities;
all possibilities and Miracles.
Always believe in Miracles.

Flaw of Ideas
August 15, 2005 @ 04:37 AM

You have my vote to yours Ahmed wink
The powers and skills we have found out in ourselves, we have to really make more and more use of it.
Let's be positive.
1- Yehia told me about a project he is already part of it, which is visiting schools and give a weekly class about "How to think, and how to be organized". What do you think? I asked him to count me in with the project.
2- Also, I have a dear project, but do not know where to start. What do you think if those of us who have language, and computer skills volunteer to help to teach those in need, not only the needy or the poor, but those who wish to improve of their careers, but cannot afford the courses? And those interested in the project, we can sit together and prepare a computer, and an English Language skill? And if you have another thing in mind, go ahead and say it, these two are the ones on my mind. The place, what do you think if we start with a mosque and agree with them to announce for such courses.
3- What about the 40% illiterate of the population we have in Egypt?? We can do a similar Eliminating Illiteracy, but I really do not know whom to approach to get the curriculum.
Well, those I have in mind, and I really wish to go with out project. One more thing- old newsletter passion- we would go on with the newsletter as a marketing tool for those activities- to encourage more and more people to do the same as we do- also it would be considered as a space for more and more youth to express themselves and find out about their skills. We would make the newsletter electronic and distribute it electronically, moustafa can take part of that matter. If the ideas are okay, what about if we meet during the weekend to figure out which to start with and how?
Waiting for the feedback AIMUNERS,
Thanks a million Ahmed(Somalia) for your excellent initiative..

Re: What's after the AIMUN ?

dear aimuners,
i love all the ideas u posted and i love the spirit - ento nas aslan MEYA MEYA - el poem u posted injy is really BEAUTIFUL - WOW - anyway i guess there r really many projects we can do:

1 - concerning the newsletter why not starting a real magazine (black&white) for young people in Alex? and distribute it in all private schools & cultural institutions? we can finance it through the ads (i did that before with my class 3ashan alexlighthouse so it's not impossible at all - it just needs hard work) - there are companies who help alot the youth - & ofcourse we're going to have a website that i could design (no problem)which will contain all the issues plus a forum 4 everyone plus some online services including the online directory of alexandria (we could use alexlighthouse) - we could have a website for alexandria that is much better than alex4all and promote through it volunteerism and make young people interested in knowing and actively participating - i guess it would be great 2 have a published magazine + a website that contains beside the magazine many other online services for people living in alex mainly young people - i got alot of ideas concerning the website & the magazine

2 - we could arrange a day where we all (the aimuners) have a walk from el montazah till kait bay - we could all wear T-Shirts on which slogans r printed - slogans promoting sports activities on a day, on another day slogans promoting environment...etc - we'll just capture the attention of people and through the magazine and the website and also our network of friends and relatives we could invite other people 2 join us in these days and wear the T-Shirts - they could wear these T-Shirts anytime not only on these days - the T-Shirts will have a good design and material and good stuff written on them - we could organize first between us: A day 4 health - a day 4 environment - a day against smoking - a day 4 a sport activity 4 everyone men and women...etc - these things could be allowed from the government bec they're no demonstrations and they got nothing 2 do with politics - on the T-Shirts we could also have logos of possible sponsers 3ashan the printing of the T-Shirts w keda - i also got alot of ideas 3ashan organizing such things

3 - i loved the idea of visiting schools and raising awareness there - it's tough i guess to visit public schools so why not concentrating first on private schools and convincing people there 2 include such thing as an activity in the school - i could suggest that in my school and the people there and i guess people in most private schools r flexible and willing if we convinced them - we could include an activity named: United Nations Model - we're not going to have models inside the schools BUT throughout the whole school year we could prepare excellent delegates 4 AIMUN - students r going 2 gain alot of knowledge and it's better this way for AIMUN 3ashan the problem of time was really the major one - it's better 2 prepare people throughout the whole year instead compressing everything in a month - we could organize this activity inside the schools once every two weeks for example 3ashan bas el time of studying w keda - as 4 me i'm willing 2 do it inside my school and i guess law yenfa3 anyone could help me and come with me once kol shahreen talata - i proposed this idea btw 3ala Mr. Abdallah Sobeih bas he said that AIMUN is mainly for university students - Ok we could have this kind of activity inside schools 4 classes who r gonna graduate this year aw next year not for kindergarten

4 - concerning the great ideas beta3et illiteracy wel computer courses w keda - they're great - i guess as a first step we should try 2 find already existing ngos beta3et el hagat di and offer them our services bec it would be hard 2 find illiterate people, create curriculm..etc - it's better and more efficient 2 know good ngos and join them with our potentials and our ideas that may improve the effiency of these ngos even more

5 - doaa, i'd love 2 know abt the ngo beta3et el shagar w keda - we should begin this great idea now ma3 nafsena - it's simple and symbolic and may be spread all over alex if we begun first with our own houses and then spread this call fi kol 7etta through the days we organize, through the website, the magazine, private schools, universities..etc - but before spreading anything we should begin it BE NAFSENA

6 - we could start a campaign 2 have day 4 social service - students fel schools, fel universities, people fel share3, kolo should participate - but we should plan a program 3ashan el social service di 7ateb2a feen w 7atet3amal ezay and then begin spreading this idea fe kol el possible places - but before beginning we should have a plan, a real well-done organized plan 3ashan el day dah and we could do it once every month masalan - this day will soooooooooooooo much create and increase the feeling of solidarity and belonging and would do sooooooooo many great things - btw it's different than the the special days we'll organize bec in this day we and other r gonna do specific tasks - it's much tougher than the thing with T-Shirts - we could begin this idea after gaining support from our T-Shirt Campaigns

yalla i gtg now bas i'll post other ideas insha2allah kaman showaya keda - yalla ya gama3a 3ayzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen neshta3'al

keep the high spirit smile

Re: What's after the AIMUN ?

hi shabab :
i think that these posts is an evedance that we started the first step to benifit our community and to move in the right way.
i think that the first step we should do is to decreese the illeteracy rate in our society - its too important as i beleive-, and i know a mosqus which started such project i realy wanted to join them but it was in the study, so i couldnt participate, so if we as AIMUNers tried to teach even one person it will be great thing.
i think there are lots of the practical steps which have been appointed in life makers programme as Doaa said we can benifit from and try to do them.
also nousha has said lots of magnifisant ideas i think it need more efforts from us but i want to say that i dont think that we need realy to look for NGOs to do any idea we want to do , i think its up to us and our hard work as i think that the rotine in most NGOs may waist more time and effort we can benifit from.
i liked the idea of T-shirts as its very effecient idea to make probaganda for our projects and i know that a similar idea is used in the life makers and it did good effect.

i beleive that the real concequances for our effort will be judged in the coming period , as i ask from the very begining of the conferance about the continunity of this event, the continunity is -in my opinion - is some thing more than joining the SDA but it mean working hard in the right way to benift from all what we learnt in such conference,
thanks alot.
abdelrahman

hi aimuners,
i'm really glad 2 know guys with this high spirit and a real intention to change for the best, and i want 2 participate in such project coz i think that voluntrism is the main key towards development .. my ideas mayb aren't new but mayb r good
1- for what injy said about Eliminating Illiteracy, i guess we can start by the close people i mean like ( elsh3'ala , el bwab ) or anyone like them if they don't know how to read and write
2- for what doaa said about planting the balcony or the roof i guess it's really effective idea and easy one and it doesn't need any fund or experience , we can go to any plant shop and ask for his help, it'll be easy isa..
i'll think for new ideas and methods isa then i'll write them to discuss them in the next outing isa ..
keep thinking .. keep the spirit

thank u all 4 ur contributions and 4 these gr8 ideas. but i just want to add something. as Abd- Alrahman said we need to rely on ourselves rather than waiting 4 other NGOs and if we need some kind of help there are alot of NGOs plus we have the SDA that can help us. besides all those good ideas need to be organised, so we arranged for a meeting ( outing ) that Mostafa sent u an email including its details in which we can discuss these issues. till then keep on thinking and contibuting.
we ya rb isa ntl3 b7aga kwysa tfdna we tfid el nas kolha .. rbna yshl we yf2na isa.

nousha, begad ur ideas are just great. guys we have to meet and discuss all these wonderful projects. you know what, after planting our balconies and roofs, we can direct our efforts to our schools and propose this project to them. this can enhance student's environmental awareness and perhaps those students will go home and plant their own roofs. this way we can make this project a national one. the name of the N.G.O. i told u about is homat al mostakble and when we meet we can discuss this in more detail.
