Sri lanka is a country full of resources and with the free education, the literacy rate
Indeed is very high than other SAARC countries such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
But sadly, with all those human and terrestrial resources, the economy of the country,
the unemployment rate and most vitally the development is not up to a standard it should be.
The results of the above vicious cycle :-
1. Unemployment, and it leads to tribulations from stress to major crimes that we see daily in media
2. The whole economy is depending on the world bank and with the weight of the interest rates Sri lanka putting her self into a position where she by no means can pay back the debt she have to settle up to the I M F.
3. Educated youth seek migrate to other western countries where they can find healthier
professions so the money the government had invested on those peoples education is washed out with their intelligence and knowledge is used for the sake of other counties.
4. People loosing their confidence in the democratic process, we can take the conflict in north as a fine example where the ghastly financial system enforced the youth into take weaponry.
The fact that the root cause for this is the appalling management of the policy makers of the country can not be disregarded, its extremely a pathetic situation as Sri lanka , not having a national policy.
Even with the free education system here in Sri lanka, we can not be contented with the opportunities which the pastoral or rather the village population have in education nor in the job market with the lack of constructive information. Both the proficiency in English language or the Computer associated studies is not in a situation to be happy of, or rather in a position to agonize about. Its very much true that the level of both English and Computer basic knowledge is commendably towering in Colombo during the last decade or so but the fact that it did not arrive at the villages is a fact the government and the policy makers in Sri lanka should be concern of. Both the private sector and the government should be magnanimous to invest money in such places in activities such as computer training workshops, conducting English lecturer sessions, interactive discussions with youth groups, identifying youth who posses the competence and stamina to give leaderships to their groups in above mentioned activities and using the selected youth as representatives of the particular regions who will be facilitating the region.
Giving only resources is not adequate to progress the conditions, positive mind frames should be inculcated in the village community and youth, and this can be done furthermore with presenting paradigms who had won their lives from the ground level to a superior position in the society.
It is a obvious fact that there are lot of organizations active in Sri lanka dealing with issues relating to unemployment, ICT , and etc but the sad fact is that the existing groups are not appropriately linked up collectively, the groups should be functioning under a one structure which will give the the opportunity to enhance their activities ,and in addition also to do in a further effectual manner.
