Description:
The Youth Assembly at the United Nations is a gathering of hundreds of young people from around the world (18-26 years old) who seek future invovlement with the United Nations, civil society, and ways to contribute to the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals. The Youth Assembly is a free, intensive, three-day program August 12- 15 2007 providing direct access to the UN, NGO career and volunteer opportunities, and introduction to independent service. Background:
The Youth Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in NYC, USA is organized by the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation (a not for profit) and co-sponsored by United Nations Member States, International NGOs, and with participation by United Nations agencies. Every year, the Assembly provides avenues for students and young professionals to learn about and become involved with programs that address global and local issues, network among a large international group and become engaged and empowered to take leadership roles in their own community.
Objectives:
Throughout the three day seminar at the UN Headquarters participates will have the opportunity to:
1. Take part in plenary sessions, workshops and networking opportunities
2. Listen to and interact with captivating speakers and workshop facilitators from around the world
3.Apply to take part in an optional three day leadership seminar following the assembly from August 16-20
