YES Burundi Energy Project (YBEP)
The Energy sector is a model for economic and onstitutionel reforms in Burundi to address the basic needs of the population' with the support of the IN-SHP PRC, Gouvernment of Burundi and UNIDO.
Impact: As a result of the different policies and strategies documents, as well the development of new projects in the different Sub-sectors which also benefit from the support of co-cooperation Agencies.
Contributes to poverty eradication through increased acess to modern, affordable and reliable energy service.
- Improves the gouvernance and administation in the Energy sector
-Increases the loong term outlook of energy usage, especially for Small hydro , Wind, Biomass resources.
-Stimulates economic development on the whole.
Context:
The energy sector is one of the key sectors of the Burundi economiy.
The major issues in the sector on currently the inefficient supply and use of energy resouces, as well as the inadequate co-ordination among various energy related projects.
Also, the rural population is not able to access modern and efficient energy service as appropriate mechanisms are still lacking.
For a number of years, significant public investment has been made into the sector particulary regarging the area of electricity and liquid fuels, gouvernment's task is in implementing energy policy and energy development strategies for improved energy service , especially by addressing the needs of the poor and encouraging a more efficient use of biomass and renewable energy.
Objectives:
The main objective of YES Burundi Energy Project is to make a significant contribution to positive development of the energy sector by providing systematic consultting services at the ministerial level and to electrifying the rural villade without access of the electricity.
Thru, the project supports the energy department to upgrade its organisational structure and professional perfomance in order to provide better services.
This includes the suitainable and environment friendly supply and use of renewable energies.
APPROCHES
The project works closely with all stakeholders ,i.e Government,NGO's ,Private sector , media , Training and research institutions and aimes strategies to address the needs of energy users ( households , industries, commerce ...)
The project also link up with the main sector forestry ,industry and environment.
ACTIVITIES
The project provides the following activities and service.
- Support implementation of energy Policy
- Train the youth on Design, and construction on small hydro power
- Development of Sub-Sector strategies for small Hydro and other renewable energy
-Promote energy efficiency and rural electification
-Workshop on initiative s on working around the renewable energy with the young people of different provinces to provide energy
- Accelerate training in manifacturing and maintenance of system of production of the renewable energy
-Conduct a reseach action on potentialities in order to produce the renewable energy.
Conclusion
The renewable energy sectro has high a potential in youth emplyment creation through sub-sectors or activities that young people can be involved in a renewable energy entrepreneurs and employees.

Feedback Meeting with the YES Members after YES KENYA 2006

The gouvenement of Kenya ,through the Ministry of Youth Affairs ,in Partnership with the Youth Employment Campaign of Education Development Center in Boston, USA,are co-hosting that Third Global Youth Employment Summit, populary know as YES Kenya 2006.The summit which is the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa but which was also assembled over 2000 delegates from over 120 countries.
YES Kenya will focus on “ CREATION MAKETS ....UNLEASHING ENTREPREURSHIP,identifying markets at the Botton of the Pyramid, makets in eco-entrepreneurship,building trade

The issue of creating employment opportunities for the youth needs sharper focus to keep pace with the swelling population of youngsters out of school and at different levels who require constant empowernment to enable them meet their evervolving needs was said Hon.Dr.Mohammed Abdi Kuti, MP Ministry of State for Youth Affairs.

Failure to access these opportunities makes young people dependant and ultimately undermines their self-esteem. Leaving young people out of economic mainstream is however,a national tragedy.
There can be no national development without allowing youth to be fully engaged economically and thereby realize their full potential.are saing Mr. KINUTHIA N.MBURUGU , HSC Permanent Secretary Ministry of State for Youth Affairs, office of the Vice President.
In additional,we will review the huge ,untappated potiential of involving gouvernments ,the private and third sectors in collaborative effort over large-scal labor intensive employment projects: in promoting trade capacity building and foreign dict investment.we will also examine innovations in development towards safer cities, urban welfare,eco-entreprises,entrepreneuship among marginalized populations and many other topics.
We cannot allow youth unemplyment to continue at the current crisis propositions. We must halt this trend and reverse it,at the earliest possible,for the world youth population stand at over 1 billion and they are desperate need of employment in both the developed,and more so the developing world where 85 percent of this youthful population lives. Was said Executive director of YES Campaign, Poonam Ahluwalia.
Here the following is the recommandations are given from The Executive Director of YES Campaign and the Nairobi declaration (find it in the documents) to all YES Counties Coordinators and the participants :

1. Each county Network and their gouvernment should go back and meet and set targets for number of employment opportunities they will create for their youth in the next two years and be ready to report that in the next summit scheduled for 2008

2.Each YES County Network with their governments should prepare a 5 year action plan for employment generation, and should take into account all youth –rural, and most all vulnerable
3.Each Country Network must have a 5 year Master plan which they should present at the next Summit-this must be made in consultation with their governments and with donors and multilateral agencies

4.The UN Agencies are requested to incorporate into their programs flexibility to make interventions by way of technical assistance, and financial support to build the capacity of YES programs.

All of the members and partners was agree to prepare the 5 year Master plan with the collaboration of YES Inc , the Gouvernment ,private sectors, UN Agencies and all youth organizations.

RAPORT OF THE WORKSHOP ORGANIZERD BY YES NETWORK AND THE MINISTRIES IN BURUNDI
In june,18 th 2006 in Bujumbura YES Burundi in collaboration with the Ministry of labor ,Ministry of outh was organized an workshop with the 85 leaders from all the provinces of Burundi to identifie the the strategy to promote entrepreuneship.seven points was been developed.
1.Presentation of YES Global and objectives
2Traning in creating Jobs opportunity nad professional
3.Identification of the issues for job creation
4. Question and answer
5.Workshop on commission:Identification of the challenge and opportunities
6.Recommadation.
Here below you can find some of the recommadation:
-The Gouvenment must adopt the system of Education in all schools in Burundi
-Reconstruction and rehabilitation
-Creation of Micro finance
-Review the code of work
-Organize the workshops to sensibilize youth to make the national master plan
etc...
After to read the recommadation all the participants was agree to adopt it.

Chinese Experts Visit YES Burundi Energy Project in June24, 2006

After YES Burundi the attending the 2nd HYDRO POWER FOR TODAY FORUM
“ Polociy Stimulating Hydro Power Development” and the YES Burundi Energy presentation impressive in Hangzhou China before 250 Expert delegations and high level officers from worldwide.
The General Director was been interessed with YES Burundi Energy project, their have decide to make an visit in Burundi to discussing about YES Network Energy Project.
International on Small Hydro Power ( IN-SHP) is co- sponsored by the united Nations Development Programme ( UNDP) and United Nations Industry Development organization( UNIDO) , Ministry of water Resources ( MWR) of People’s Republic of China.
Is an International organization with an independent legal person status. It is registered both in the host country and in the United Nations Economic and Social Council ( UNECOSOC ) Internationally rules and regulations of United Nation’s NGO organizations, whose employees have UN NGO status.
Whoever, YES Burundi was received three Experts from IN-SHP , especially General Director Prof. TONG Jiangdon, Prof. Wang yangson , AND Prof. Li , their visit was focus to discussing with the Gouvernment, UNDP and YES Burundi Energy Project who to be implement to that very important project which was requesting from YES Burundi to supply the electricity to the village areas through the Equipment donation manufacturers from Unido with the thechnical assistance of IN-SHP to selected SHP projects identifier by YES Burundi and to exchange information on small hydro power development and management, including cost recovery,through workshops/ seminars,publications, or study visits.
To promote small hydro power development through technical and economical cooperation,particularly through the exchange of know-how, experience sharing of facilities of training,as well as matching of needs and environmental of rural areas.

IN-SHP delegation was agree with Burundi Gouvernment and YES Burundi Project to review the tarification of the cost per kW and review the global Budget which will be send the copy to IN-SHP and Ministry of Water Resource to sign an MOU.
All the construction cost will be from the Gouvernment , YES Burundi Energy will Manage the project and IN-SHP will given the Equipment and the engeneers .
