Description:
Youth Employment Network DR Congo is a not for profit association established under the laws of DR Congo. This is a long-term educative and supportive programme aimed at promoting youth employment in five specific areas namely Entrepreneurship, Employability, Equality, Vocational training and Employment creation. The main strategies to attend the expected results include - advocacy, empowerment, incubation and networking.employability, equality of chance, and cultural diversity.
Background:
The inception of YEN DR Congo was initiated by Madam Alice MIRIMO – national board director of Young Women Christian Association of the DR Congo, YWCA DRC just when she came back from SARAJEVO and GENEVA where she respectively participated in the international conferences on “ Youth, Development and Peace (from 5 to 7 September 2004 ) ” and the workshop of restitution on “Youth Employment Network (from 6 to 8 June 2005)” held during the 93rd international conference on labour. The National Coordinating Committee of YEN DR Congo was created on the 6 May 2005 during the official visit of the executive secretary of Youth Employment Network, Mr. Miller STEVEN in Kinshasa. They got the commitment of the country leadership by the official signature of H.E. General Major Joseph KABILA, president of the state since June 2005. There are now fourteen YEN Country Leaders worldwide, namely Azerbaijan, Brazil, DR Congo, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Mali, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sri Lanka and Syria (www.ilo.org/yen). The National Coordinating Committee of YEN DR Congo is made up of:

Objectives:
1. To coordinate and support the implementation of sustainable youth employment programmes that involve diverse stakeholders : members of the government, UN agencies, World Bank, ILO, UNDP, Funders, International ONGs, Civil society, Private sector, Public sector, youth associations & movements;
2. To involve youth into decision-making processes;
3. To provide possibilities to youth to play a great role into the inception and achievement of the National Action Plan in accordance with the Millennium Development Goals;
4. To do research on youth employment and sustainable solutions to youth employment issues;
5. To give opportunities to governments to formulate and practice strategies which offer to youth more chances to find sustainable and productive jobs.
Milestones:
YEN DR Congo is aimed at creating at least 160,000 youth employments by the end of the year 2015 (16,000 per year per province). The main focus areas of their activities are:
1. Entrepreneurship,
2. Employability,
3. Equality4. Vocational Training, and
5. Employment creation.
Budget:
This project requires at least Euros 5,250,000
Needs:
Infrastructures, Materials and equipments, Teaching materials, computers, machines, cars, furnuture, onsite volunteers, etc.
