In preperation for the road to Tunis, its my pleasure to announce a Canada-Egypt Partnership arrangement!
I am pleased to announce that as part of the national youth campaign on the information society, the SDA has been selected as the leading office in Egypt to execute the Sustainable Business Technology for Youth (SBTY) Pilot Program to be delivered through a Canadian Entrepreneurship Program, called Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE), in cooperation with GEO INFORMATION SERVICES INTERNATIONAL (Project Coordination and Control), Sheridan College, and Structural Design Incorporated.

Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) is the Canadian Executing Agency (CEA) for the 6 month pilot program which is expected to commence in the spring of 2004. Essentially the Pilot Program will prepare a core group of SDA personnel and test key critical assumptions to facilitate timely/appropriate implementation of the main SBTY project from the outset.

GEO INFORMATION SERVICES INTERNATIONAL, Sheridan College and Structural Design Incorporated coordination mechanisms will be established for the main SBTY program. The SBTY will create an education and training unit within SDA to carry out training in information communication technologies (ICT) workshops.

The Sustainable Business Technology for Youth (SBTY) Pilot Program is one of the implementation systems that will help the Sustainable Development Association (SDA) develop industry-based entrepreneurial training strategies that link education, entrepreneurship, marketing, financial skills and by enhancing individuals facilitate access to income through small technological businesses.

In order to pilot the program, we will be selecting 10 SDA members for the establishment of Phase I of the SBTY. There will have to be a linking portal such as WebCT to host the teaching materials for this site. All selected “students” will use a computer for this Canada to Egypt on-line teaching to gain the experience necessary to develop their entrepreneurial and IT Skills through this unique on-line learning platform.

Anyone interested in applying must submit the attached application by APRIL 8th, 2004. The application will be reviewed by a Canadian and Egyptian balanced selection committee of youth.

The following criteria will be applied to all candidates:
* The ten participants need to have working knowledge of internet, basic knowledge of word processors, Microsoft Office applications [Word, Powerpoint, Excel], good command of english, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
* Gender balance is desired.
* The candidates do not need to be experts or have previous experience in Information Technology but must be part of a group, organisation or network that works on activities related to the topics covered in World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

Unfortunately, we are only able to review applications in English. Mistakes in language on the application will not be taken into account in choosing the students.

* The candidate must be willing to assist with future SDA workshops relevant to the SBTY dissemination and public awareness campaigns.

* The candidate must submit the attached complete information form to the following address: gisi-canada@rogers.com
