August 24, Community SHINE DAY
Demonstrate against White Power: Capitol Hill with drums, songs, and other non-violent actions
Pledge funds to community education programs
Objectives:
SHINEs purpose is promoting racial, ethnic, and religious understanding and opposing hate groups through education and visibility efforts. SHINE promotes inter-cultural understanding by increasing communications and visibility of positive youth contributions to living in a diverse society. Evaluation will be continual, including after events and at monthly meetings. The on-line forums will also allow for feedback by all participants. We hope to have 500 people involved in August 24 events(either at the counter-demonstration or doing visibility in their community and/or making a donation) and recruit 10 teens to help create the manual.
