YOUTH EMPLOYMENT FOUNDATION GHANA
GLOBAL YOUTH SERVICE DAY
GENERAL REPORT
Dear Sir/Madam,
We are very happy to inform you about our participation in this years Global youth service day celebration, which fall on 13th April 2003. in Ghana . Because we did not received all the materials on time and cost effectiveness on our side, we where not able to celebrate GYSD to our expectation. We organize our GYSD in a form of Debate and Discussion on the TOPIC: CHILD LABOUR IS IT THE FAULT OF PARENT OR NOT and we did talk for about four hours and we also did a discussion on the way forward for youth Education in our communities and after the Discussions we come out with this projects and title: SERVICE-LEARNING. Of which your verification is needed.
Please we find out during our Discussions that youth Education in the Region has fallen Drastically, and we see it our duties us youth to come out with a program to improved this situation, this programs is been targeted to run for 5 years period with the help from your organization, since we do not have enough materials and books to run this projects .
HOW WE WANT TO GO WITH THESE PROJECTS.
We have formed a Teaching Volunteer service-learning club and this club are all volunteer teachers and non-teachers who has volunteer their selves to start a week-end teaching programs for the youth. Infact we have completed topics that want to teach. These are as follows
Ø YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT
Ø TEENAGE PREGNANCY AND POPULATION
Ø HIV/ ADIS
Ø RESEARCH AND PLANNING
Ø READING AND WRITING
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT
Here during our research in the region we find out that the youth lack a lot of personal development and empowerment so we decided to hold o youth developmental programs in every month to educate them on personal development and empowerment.
TEENAGE PREGNANCY AND POPULATION
The research we conducted indicate that there is a great increases on teenage pregnancy in the region, so we decided to take it our selves to Educate the youth on the need to avoid sex before marriage, in other to save them from pregnancy and it effect on population.
HIV/AIDS
Here also we find out that this region is the leading HIV/AIDS contributor in chief on Aids in Ghana, because the research indicates that the region is contributing about 35 percent on the national records. There is the need to intensify Education on the youth on the field of this Disease.
RESEARCH AND PLANNING
Research indicate that the youth in this region does not know the importance of research and planning, so we did take it our selves to let them know the need to do research and proper planning for them selves, because you could see that there is no future planned for about 500 youth that we contacted both on the mail and physical contact.
READING AND WRITING
This is really unbelievable as a youth about 16 years and above cannot write their name how much more can they write, so we have really planned to help them to a least know how to write their names.
Please without your support there is nothing we can do since we did not have even Books that we will use to teach them. Please kindly help us to get some books especially on the topics that we want to treat and we will be happy if your organization can help us secure any Grants or support from any international Agency to help us take off this project as planned on the 15th may 2003.
We should have attached all the pictures that we took during the program but due to monetary factor, we would like to post it you so please kindly provide us with your address so that we use it to send them to you.
We welcome any Donations both in cash, books, volunteer or in kind. Our sincere gratitude to all organizations that supported us during and after our celebration. We have attached a budget statement during and after our program for any references
