I would like us to discuss about the role of the youth in econmic empowerment in a Nation. Do you think the youth can play an important role in the Nations economical issues and if so, how best should they approach the issues? I think we do and I believe the best way to get started is to accept the fact that we are the people to start the innitiative of enterprenual skill search.

Facts on Youth
In cities of the developed world, more jobs are being created in the financial sector and in informal management as a result of globalization, while in the developing world, trends point toward an increasing “informalization” of the urban economy, as the formal sector fails to provide adequate employment opportunities for the number of young people and adults seeking work.

In our university,we are always reminded that we,the youth are the hope of our nation. And being funded by the government,we are always reminded to help in nation building after graduation. I have taken this mission seriously and have always believed that the youth can do so much in economic empowerment. However,I think that due to poverty and related problems, most of the youth tend to be apathetic. Their efforts are mostly focused on personal financial concerns. Maybe they have come to believe that they can't do so much as they are always bombarded with bad news. I think that to involve the youth, information dissemination must be intensified. Maybe we could start with the highschool students as they are easier to convince and are more open to such ideas. Maybe an elective course or an alternative class learning experience could be held to inform them effectively. What are the existing issues? What are the existing projects in their community? What more could they do? How would they benefit from participating?
These are mere suggestions based on experiences and observations I have of my country. The situation in Africa might be a lot different.

You are lucky that you are funded by your government, for us, we have to do the projects from our own resources. However, the main driving force for us is to create a difference. We always believ that as long as our goals are met, we are on the right track. Hope you succed in your projects. I believe that if on from the Filipines succeeds and another from Kenya succeeds, then we know that we are on the right track.
