Location:
Categories: Culture & Identity Technology & Innovation Children’s Rights Learning & Education
Status:
In Progress
Timeline:
Ongoing
Description:
Young, responsible minds will come to gether in the form of an organized network to seek a solution to the digital divide between those who have access to , and know how to use, the new opportunities opened by the Internet, and those who do not. This project will lead to a series of workshops conducted by students for the youth of Jaffa with the aim of providing the future generation with basic, and ultimately more advanced, skills in computers and Internet use. The goal of the initiative is to increase ICT-literacy of Jaffa
Objectives:
By undertaking this project we aim to achieve the following goals:
1. Providing the participants with the basic computer and Internet skills, so they can use them in their study and future personal and professional development.
2. Starting an online community for the people of Jaffa. The cornerstones of this community will be personal homepages of students and a web page for the school or hosting community center.
3. Initiating a process for further development of similar centers and activities aimed to bring cyberspace closer to the youth of Jaffa and
their families.
We believe that by achieving such goals at a practical level, we will allow the youth of Jaffa to become equal members of the global community. We will enable them to utilize the potential of the Web to participate globally and preserve their cultural uniqueness at the same time.
Needs:
We are looking for four scolarships of US $1,200 each in order to allow the students, who will teach in the project to make the best contribution and to allocate
sufficient time to it.
We are looking for financial backing from socially-responsible organizations as well as private donors, in Israel and abroad.
