Description:
The Child Rights Advocacy Campaign (CRAC) is a flagship campaign of the Youth Empowerment and Child Labour Elimination Project (YCEP)- a non governmental organization based in Nigeria. The campaign was launched on the 16th June 2007 (International Day of the African Child) as an advocacy platform for creating awareness on the rights of children in Nigeria. CRAC is poised to promote, protect and monitor the rights of Nigerian children as enshrined in the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child; African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child; Convention on the Worst Forms of Child Labour; Child Rights Act 2003 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other international, national and local instruments.

To achieve a rights-protective environment for the development of Nigerian children and their potentials
Vision:
CRAC envisions a Nigerian society where children enjoy their fundamental human rights as citizens.
Mission Statement:
CRAC is committed to promoting, protecting and monitoring the rights of children in Nigeria through an advocacy-based approach.
Objectives:
- To foster the domestication of Child Rights Act 2003 in the 36 States of Nigeria
- To foster the establishment of Children Parliaments in the 36 States of Nigeria
- To promote child rights based budgeting and programming in Nigeria
- To conduct policy-relevant research and analysis on child rights issues
- To sensitize and create awareness of the general public on child rights issues
- To build the capacity of key stakeholders including CSOs, government officials, youth, children, women etc on child rights issues
- To increase stakeholders commitment on promoting, protecting and monitoring of child rights in Nigeria
- To promote active children’s participation in decisions that affects their well-being and their communities
- To foster the establishment of Child Development Trust Fund (CDTF) in National, State and Local Government Areas of Nigeria
- To foster the establishment of a participatory and effective Child Rights monitoring system in all the States and Local Government Areas of Nigeria
- To partner with CSOs, Private sectors, Government Agencies, Donor agencies, international bodies, religious organizations etc in the realization of CRAC’s overall goal and objectives.
